1.FIREBIRD TRIO Friday 23 February 7.30pm $50/45/10
Founded in 2010, Firebird Trio has performed nationwide to critical acclaim, with a vibrancy of imagination that echoes its name. Described by The Australian as "an ensemble of immense energy and focus" and praised in The Age for their “togetherness, charisma and playfulness”, Firebird Trio has performed Australia wide.
This program features works by Stravinsky, Haydn and Schubert’s much loved Piano Trio in E flat D.929.
2. AUSTRALIAN STRING QUARTET Friday 20 April 7.30pm $55/50/10
For over 30 years, the Australian String Quartet has created unforgettable string quartet performances for national and international audiences. Dedicated to musical excellence with a distinctly Australian character, their purpose is to create chemistry and amplify intimacy through experiences that connect people with string quartet music.
This program features works by Mozart, Ligeti and Mendelssohn.
3. MELBOURNE CHAMBER ORCHESTRA with ANNA GOLDSWORTHY (piano) Friday 22 June 7.30pm $55/50/10
Melbourne Chamber Orchestra creates powerful, local fine music experiences to inspire Victorians wherever they are. In more than 40 performances each season, the state’s most exciting chamber musicians come together to create music with uncompromising artistic quality, impressive finesse and extraordinary passion. Anna Goldsworthy is one of Australia’s most versatile artists. Celebrated as a pianist, she is acclaimed also as a memoirist, essayist, playwright, librettist, and festival director.
This program features works by Krauss, Mozart and Haydn – including Piano concertos by Mozart and Haydn.
4. OMEGA ENSEMBLE with LEE ABRAHMSEN (soprano) Friday 14 September 7.30pm $55/50/10
Founded in 2005, Omega Ensemble is one of Australia’s finest and most lauded chamber groups. Its mission is to showcase outstanding artists who captivate and excite audiences through a revelatory program of chamber music. With a dedication to engaging the finest Australian musicians, as well as international guest artists, Omega presents outstanding musicians in an intimate and stimulating chamber setting.
Lee Abrahmsen graduated from Melbourne University with an honours degree in Music and a Diploma of Education, then pursued a period of voice study and performance opportunities in Europe with Antonio Moretti-Pananti (Florence), Daniel Ferro Vocal Program and Festival (Tuscany) and the Bel Canto Festival (Holland).
This program features selected songs by Poulenc, Rachmaninoff and Schubert, as well a Mozart’s Trio.
5. SIMON TEDESCHI Friday 23 November 7.30pm $50/45/10
Simon Tedeschi is quite often described by respected critics and musical peers as one of the finest artists in the world making the young pianist’s mark on music both undeniable and admirable. He first performed a Mozart Piano Concerto at age 9 in the Sydney Opera House and has studied piano in Australia with Neta Maughan for 10 years as well as in London with Noretta Conci and Boston with Peter Serkin.
This program features piano works by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Francaix.
