The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui

In 1930’s Chicago, a down on his luck gangster named Arturo Ui dreams of making it to the top of the vegetable trade. Despite his willingness to work with the Cauliflower Trust and Chicago’s grocers, the members of the trust want nothing to do with him.

When Ui later learns of corruption within the Cauliflower Trust, he uses this knowledge to scheme his way into a position of power and will not stop for anyone or anything until he achieves his goals.

Written by the great German playwright Bertolt Brecht, The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui provides a satirical and thought provoking insight into the rise of Adolf Hitler and the “complacency of the people who were able to resist him, but didn’t.”
