MSO Plays Haydn’s Creation

Haydn’s life affirming work, The Creation is a masterpiece both in its genre and across the entire repertoire of classical music. A true highlight of the season, experience the story of creation as if you are seeing it for the first time. From the big bang, the expanding universe to the plants, animals and humans on earth, journey into a musical picture book of birth, life and everything that you know of it.

Haydn took inspiration from the large ‘oratorio’ choral works of Handel, with the first sold out performance of The Creation in 1798 being so popular that the police had to turn up on crowd control duties!

Combining the internationally-renowned talents of soprano Siobhan Stagg, tenor Andrew Staples, and bass Neal Davies with incredible force of the MSO Chorus, don’t miss the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in the choral event of the year.
